Mara West Foundation
Face the Freeze
Join us on Sunday, March 30th, for a Polar Plunge event with Navigatr Group, supporting the Mara West Foundation and one of its inspiring beneficiaries, Felisha Yiasi—a young woman from a Maasai village in Kenya pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.
The Polar Plunge is open to Navigatr Group employees, friends, and family, and as the event host, we’re excited to invite the Breathing in Nature community to take part too!
Date: Sunday, March 30th
Time: 2:00 – 4:00 pm ET
Location: Woodbine Beach
In cold temperatures or extreme weather (as in life) being prepared is half the battle:
- Comfy, loose-fitting clothes (you won’t be able to put on tight clothes such as yoga pants with frozen hands and feet)
- Layer up! Be the onion: Underlayer, outer layers, waterproof/windbreaker layers if it rains or snows. Better to be overdressed, than underdressed
- Winter boots, hat, scarf or wind guards, mittens
- Best materials to keep you warm: wool, fleece
- Bathing suit and towel, water shoes optional, large poncho towels are great for changing in
- Water bottle or thermos with warm drinks
- Yoga mat to sit/lie down on
We start with breathwork. Steve guides the first rounds of breathing to the rhythm of the drum. Everyone goes into the water at their own pace. There is no pressure to fully immerse, or even go in at all. Listen to the wisdom of your body. This is your practice and it might change week to week. We warm up our bodies after with movement, like the horse stand, light exercise or dance.
We celebrate after with a fire. Sometimes we share snacks. Stay as long as you like. Feel free to bring your family and dogs.
