Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a transformative approach that views the mind as a collection of different “parts,” each with its own thoughts, emotions, and roles. Some parts may carry burdens from past experiences, while others act as protectors. At the core of IFS is the concept of “Self.” Innate to everyone, Self is a calm, compassionate presence that can help heal and harmonize these internal dynamics. As a registered IFS practitioner, Nici will guide you inwards so you can meet and attend to all parts of yourself.

What happens in a session?
We start with a short breath/awareness meditation, bringing the attention inwards and inviting parts to come forward.
We check-in what is alive in the moment and what parts want our focus. This can be a dilemma or problem in your current life, a sensation/illness in the body or a recent conflict or indecision, a dream or past trauma and memory. We stay open to who makes themselves known.
We find a part to focus on and try to bring our self-energy to it, meeting it with curiosity, compassion, and openness. If other parts come up with concerns, we attend to them, too. If parts want to unburden their pain we find a way for them to let go.
We end the session with a short meditation of gratitude towards our system, the parts that have had the courage to show up, and commit to returning and checkin-in regularly.
